Nicholl Street

Home again, how sweet it is! Last night Pattie slept so well that this morning was the best awakening she has had in well over a week. Rest is a wonderful blessing. Her energy level was not sustained for too long, however, so she returned to bed. There is little pain and NO nausea. What a gift. Pastor John Hess stopped by with a colored Easter egg and a prayer. What a guy! We are so blessed to have such overwhelming support from dear friends and family! God has built a caring community around us to love us through this difficulty. Reality returned this morning as the switch to the sink disposal went on the fritz, not allowing it to turn off. Duct tape worked wonders! Also one of the kitchen lights burned out. These are curiously welcome distractions to the singular focus of recent days. These are small things over which I can have some positive impact and control. Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow.

    Dearest Friends:
    We, too, are home again in Tucson, this time accompanied by 3 wonderful grandkids. We enjoyed Easter with Jacqui et al, and we'll be here until Saturday. Home is WONDERFUL! God is holding you two in His hands and we are rejoicing that you are able to rest and recover your strength in peaceful surroundings.     Sounds like you are having a good day! At least the distractions are things you can fix or control. I'm sure you will be having support from your friends and church any time you need it.

    Sleeping in your own bed also does wonders for your rest. I'm glad that you are able to be home now. Keep up the good work on recovering energy but go slow on the activities Pattie.

    Pattie, I am so happy to hear that you had a great night's sleep. Being home--away from all things medical--has to have its own medicinal qualities.

    Dear Pattie and Willie,
    It was unbelievably good to see you today, Pattie. You seemed so strong and together after all you have been through! What a great patient you have been. And, Willie is the great communicator and caregiver extraordinaire! All of your faithful bloggers have given you good advice...no hurry to get up and do all those chores you are probably remembering that you usually do. Hope the short walks are more and more do-able, though.
    Let us know what we can do! And thank you so much for letting us peek in for a few moments.

    PS In the Denver Post today, an article reminded us that this was the anniversary of Lincoln's assassination. The interesting thing is, that they are going to examine some kind of cloth, perhaps, that was by Lincoln at that moment, because some doctors speculate that he had a rare cancer! Seeing you, Pattie, I wonder how doctors might have been able to help in these times?

    So glad to hear that you are sleeping better and no nausea. That is so great and will help in your healing. Sounds like you are doing so much better in all ways- just being home helps so much. I have Ariana today and she says hi. So do let us when/how we can help.
